Ok, I know it's been a loooooong while since I posted last, but there is a good reason. I've been super busy with the cakes, 2 kids, work, school, church & scouts! Whew...I'm tired just thinking about it all.
I am happy to announce that I am finally taking the plunge and opening up a Specialty Cake Shop of my very own. I was very picky with the location & basically, I waited until the one I wanted became available. I got lucky, I guess, becasue a few months past when the lanlord told me the good news.
Ideally, I should have started this documentary on June 1st. That's technically the day the other tenant left and I brought my contractor to take a look at it.
Yesterday was the first day of renovations. It was a clothing store, but a very drab and dreary one! Here's a photo of the current outside.

It will take a few weeks, but, soon enough you will see what is in my head at the moment. :)This was a photo from today...my contractor brother and my dad fixing the walls.
I'm having trouble deciding on a name. I think anything with "Irene" in it sounds kinda mom-and-pop-ish....what do you guys think? Irene's Cake Shoppe?

Irene! I am so happy for you! This is long over due. You are going to be such a fanstastic success! How wonderful.
And I agree, while I think Irene is a great name, I'd leave it just for you and not the shop.

I completely forgot to ask-where is the new shop? In your neighborhoood?
It is in Bay Ridge...yep..right in my neighborhood. I had to be close to the kids!!
